Notable Games I Played This Year - That Did Not Necessarily Come Out This Year

Ghostland Yard a superb 2D precision plat-former in the vain of Super Meat Boy but better: feel, customisation and ranking system... better in every way actually. This is the only title on the list that released in 2023.

Tails of Iron is basically a 2D darksouls where your rodent kingdom is invaded by a swarm of toads and some bugs. Tails of Irons art-style, progression and combat are honestly all stellar and the story so far isn’t too bad. I can’t really fault it.

Dungeon Warfare is a top-down tower-defence with a pixel art-style. The traps, enemy types and level design in this game are top notch it’s incredibly fun to play with a surprising amount of depth to it.

So which one of the three takes my personal Greatest Game That I Played This Year, drum roll please,
And the Winner is:

GotY

Dungeon Warfare - The sheer depth, numerous enemy types and levels, interesting systems in play, cute pixel art, juicy sound effects, cool achievements, progression, upgrades, etc combine to make the most enjoyable tower-defence game I have ever played possibly better than Orcs Must Die! The strategy the stress the gore you love to see it folks.
